The Power of Narrative

Target Audience:   K-12 Teachers, Department Chairs, Curriculum Coordinators, School and District Administrators

Length of Time:   OPTIONS: Half Day, Full Day

Description

Stories are powerful—both for what they convey and what they omit. The ability to tell one’s story is validating and magical. It is also a skill to understand another’s story and to appreciate the story conveyed in objects of all kinds. Together we will work to see how stories have shaped our past, our understanding of ourselves, and the world we inhabit. We will develop curriculum models to hone our students’ sense of themselves.

Participants will gain:
  • Tools to assess narrative in a variety of media
  • Sample Curricula that focuses on narrative
  • An appreciation for the role of narrative in all curriculum areas, K-12
